About A. Van Jordan

A. Van Jordan is the author of Rise by Tia Chucha press, 2001, which won the PEN/Oakland Josephine Miles Award, and was selected by the Academy of American Poets as a book of the month selection; and M-A-C-N-O-L-I-A by W.W. Norton & Co in 2004, which won an Anisfield-Wolf Book Award. Jordan is also a recipient of a Whiting Writers Award, a Pushcart Prize and he has been commended and included in the Forward Book of Poetry 2007 in Great Britain. The London Times Literary Supplement (TLS) also selected M-A-C-N-O-L-I-A as one of the Best Books of the Year in 2005. His new book Quantum Lyrics is forthcoming from W. W. Norton & Co., July 2007.
